Executive Committee Meeting in Eskilstuna

The 58th HEV TCP Executive Committee meeting was held in the picturesque town of Eskilstuna, Sweden.

Events commenced on Tuesday 10th October at the offices of the Swedish Energy Agency. This included meetings of the Outreach and Strategic Planning Committees.

A technical tour of the Volvo Construction Equipment test track marked the start of proceedings on Wednesday 11th October.

Visitors were shown the latest developments in electric and autonomous work machines and a presentation on the company's investments in these technologies.

Delegates returned to the ExCo venue in the afternoon and were welcomed by Mr Peter Engdahl, Head of the Sustainable Transport Unit, Research and Innovation Department, Swedish Energy Agency.

Mr Engdahl presented the work of the Swedish Energy Agency and welcomed delegates to Eskilstuna.

A strategic planning workshop was run by the Task 1 team at Urban Foresight.

Participants were guided through a process to consider HEV TCP's strengths and weaknesses over the past 5-years.

Breakout groups then worked together to review the vision for HEV TCP and identify priority topics for the next phase of the work plan.

The main ExCo meeting was formally opened by Carol Burelle, HEV TCP Chair on Thursday 12th October.

This included welcoming a new country delegate from the United Kingdom (Mr Martyn Hayes), as well as a new alternate delegate from Ireland (Mr Conor Edgely) and the United Kingdom (Ms Chloe Livingstone).

Highlights of the meeting included the approval of a new task on "EVs & Circularity". Austria proposed the task, which Joanneum Research will lead.

An update on recent IEA activities was also given by Teo Lombardo, the IEA Co-Desk Officer for HEV TCP. This outlined recent reports and publications relevant to HEV TCP, the development of new tools for life cycle analysis and total cost of ownership and planned new IEA initiatives.

Jeju Island in South Korea was also confirmed as the venue for the 59th ExCo meeting on 29th April to 2nd May 2024.
